Layer up to four tracks

Drop in a voiceover, a music bed, a beat and a sound effect. Each track has its own volume from 0 to 150% plus mute and solo, so you can balance the layers by ear.

  • Up to 4 tracks in one mix
  • Volume from 0 to 150% per track
  • Mute or solo a track to check the balance

Start offsets and fades

Delay a track by a few seconds so the voice comes in after the intro, then fade the music in at the start and out at the end instead of cutting it off sharply.

  • Start offset in seconds for each track
  • Fade in and fade out, set in seconds
  • Total mix length up to 10 minutes

USE CASES

Audio mix tools for everyday jobs

When you mix audio online, most jobs are two to four layers, lined up and balanced. Six common ones:

Voice over music

Lay narration over a music bed, pull the music down until every word is easy to follow, and fade the bed out after the last line.

Combine two songs

Start the second song a few seconds before the first one ends, then fade one out while the other fades in for a smooth crossfade.

Beat plus vocals

Put a recorded vocal over an instrumental or beat, nudge the vocal's start offset until it lands on the downbeat, then balance the levels.

Podcast intro music

Open with a short music clip, bring your voice in with a start offset, and let the clip fade out as you start talking to your listeners.

Video soundtrack

Build one audio file for a video from a voiceover, background music and a sound effect, then import the WAV into your video editor.

Covers on a backing track

Record yourself singing over an instrumental you have the rights to use, then mix your voice and the backing track into one finished file.

COMPARE

Pick the lightest tool that does the job. For layering a few files, a browser mixer is quicker than opening a full DAW.

TIPS

6 tips to mix songs together cleanly

A simple mixer leaves the musical decisions to you. These six habits keep a mix in time, in tune and free of clipping.

  1. 01

    Match the tempo first

Two songs at different speeds drift apart. Check each BPM with the BPM finder and adjust one with the pitch changer before you layer them.

  2. 02

    Match the key as well

Songs in clashing keys sound sour when they overlap. Find each key with the key finder, then shift one a few semitones so they agree.

  3. 03

    Leave some headroom

Every layer adds level. If the mix crackles at loud moments, lower each track instead of pushing one past 100%, so the peaks do not clip.

  4. 04

    Use fades, not hard cuts

A fade of one to three seconds hides an abrupt start or stop, and a fade out overlapping a fade in on the next track makes a crossfade.

  5. 05

    Set offsets by ear

Start with a rough offset, preview the join, then nudge it in small steps until the beat or the first word lands right where you want it.

  6. 06

    Keep the voice on top

For voice over music, leave the voice at 100% and bring the music down until every word is clear, even on small phone speakers.

FAQ

Audio mixer FAQ

Quick answers about mixing tracks, sound quality, formats and privacy.

How do I mix audio online for free?+

Add up to 4 audio files to the mixer above. For each track, set the volume, a start offset in seconds and any fade in or fade out. Press Preview mix to listen, adjust until it sounds right, then export it as a single WAV file. It is free and needs no account.

How do I put a voice over background music?+

Add the voice recording and the music as two tracks. Keep the voice at 100%, lower the music until every word is clear, and give the music a fade out so it ends gently. If the voice should start after a short intro, give it a start offset of a few seconds.

How do I mix two songs together?+

First make sure they match: check the BPM and key of both, and shift one with the pitch changer if needed. Then add both songs, start the second one a few seconds before the first ends, and use a fade out on the first and a fade in on the second.

Does this mixer do AI mixing, EQ or effects?+

No. It is a simple mixer for combining tracks, not an AI mixing or mastering service. There is no automatic balancing, EQ, compression, reverb or beat matching. You set the volume, timing and fades of each track yourself, which is often all a voice and music mix needs.

Why does my mix sound distorted or clipped?+

Clipping happens when the combined level of all tracks goes past the maximum a file can hold, and the mixer shows a warning when that is likely. Lower each track a little, especially any set above 100%, and preview the loudest section again until the crackle disappears.

How many tracks can I mix, and for how long?+

You can add up to 4 tracks, and the total mix can run up to 10 minutes. Need more layers? Export a mix of 4 tracks, then load that WAV as one track of a new mix. For longer projects, a desktop audio editor is the better fit.

Which formats can I add, and can I export MP3?+

You can add any format your browser can decode, usually MP3, WAV, M4A or AAC, OGG and in most browsers FLAC. The finished mix downloads as an uncompressed WAV file, which video editors and DAWs open directly. Convert it to MP3 afterwards if you need a smaller file.

Is the audio mixer free, and are my files uploaded?+

It is free and needs no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser using the Web Audio API, so your files are decoded, mixed and exported on your own device and are never uploaded to a server or stored by us.
